Hi! Our names are Lil' Bear and Shadow. I (Lil' Bear) am going to share our story with you...it is extremely sad, so please bear with us as we tell you about it. You may need a Kleenex...

We are both about 7 and a half years old. We've spent our lives living with a wonderful woman since the age of two months old. We used to share her king sized bed every night and had the life of luxury in the house! She would throw the ball for us and loved to watch me take my daily swim around the pool :-)

Well, about six months ago someone put us out in the back yard and we never saw our mom again! Rumor has it that our mom had ten two-legged kids, but only one of them came to visit and feed us after our mom went away. When he told us that our mom had died, our lives were crushed and we spent months being very depressed and sad. Although the young man came to feed and play with us, we have been banned to the backyard. Because we were cold and wet with all the rain, we started barking and howling...so, the neighbor got very mad! She called animal control and that is when more tragedy ensued.

Animal control left numerous notes on the door, but of course they went unanswered. One day, they came to take us away but we weren't going quietly! I am a pretty quick runner so I was able to get away every time they got close enough to catch me. Unfortunately they snuck up on Shadow and caught him, but he put up a fight. I heard lots of screaming and yelping, but I could do nothing. When our young man came to take care of us he saw lots of blood on the walkway and gate!!! He was horrified to think of what happened. He found me in the backyard and the notice telling him where Shadow had gone. When he went to the shelter to get my brother back, he found poor Shadow sitting in a cage with a broken leg!!!!!! How could they have done that to him?? Shadow was only scared and wouldn't harm anyone, yet they hurt him so badly. Luckily the young man brought Shadow home and took him to his lifelong vet. Now Shadow is all better and has been with me ever since :-)

Our lives are finally looking up...The very day that we were to be picked up by animal control and law enforcement we got to go on a car ride with the young man. Evidently he met a nice animal rescue lady who heard our story and just had to have us come join her rescue!!! She loves the older dogs and knows how lost we must have felt. We had a long car ride, but finally ended up at her friend's kennel. We spent a couple days crying because we were still confused, but as you can see from our photos and video, we are well adjusted now!

I know we aren't spring chickens, but we still have many wonderful years ahead of us. Although we are happy in our new temporary home, we still long for a family to love and spoil us. We promise to be good boys and did we mention that we love kids? Well, we do!!! If you have a pool, I'd be especially happy, but it is not mandatory :-) Tennis balls are also appreciated, but we chase rubber duckies too! Won't you PLEASE consider giving us a second chance at a wonderful life with a family??? Because we've been together all our lives it is important that we stay together always. We can offer you loads of love, hugs, and kisses!!! We promise to always make you smile too ;-)

A good home is the rescue's number one priority. We qualify for the seniors-4-seniors program so it is only $100 (for BOTH of us!!!) We are healthy, neutered, vaccinated, and will be microchipped also. PS: You do not have to be seniors to adopt us!
